Baby Steps....

So day one was great, I put on my brand spanking new Brooks Adrenaline GTS 10's. I like them, up until now I thought a Supinator was like the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld. I on the other hand happen to be a Pronator. This is very important to know to be in the proper shoe. The shoe is everything.
Back to the training: First day felt great, I took my dog for the walk.
Coach Carvey told me for the first couple of weeks: first day, walk briskly for 30 minutes like someone is following you.
Day 2 walk 5 minutes, jog lightly for 5 minutes, repeat until you did 30 minutes.
Repeat those two days, then, rest on Saturday & repeat on Sunday.
I kind of felt like these were too babyish, but did what I was told to do. Tuesday was definitely more fun. I have to be honest, I did both walk/run's at night, in the cold too, and I started to really ask myself, "Bill, are you really going to do this? a marathon"? then I remembered what Coach Carvey said "Don’t think ahead too much, one day at a time. You don’t have to run for months and months, you only have to run today. That’s easy, you only have to run today!
So for now I will take it easy and focus on the now. So far as my route, or area I run, it is suburbia/farmland. I love it. I don't love the twin psycho ninja poodles, I call them that, because, they run from out of nowhere and chase along their electric fence line, harmless, as long as the batteries on their sensors work. As we jogged by, my dog pulled me along at a double pace(she was attacked by them as a small pup) maybe I will add a picture of them next time. In the future, I will keep a weekly log, of distance run per week. My hope is that if an average out of shape guy can do it, anyone can. Until next time!
A little background on why I decided to train for My Big Fat Greek Marathon
