My Daily Jog With Bruno

Not really a "funny" story, more nostalgic.

Some years ago, my usual daily running suburban route took me past a home wherein ruled "Bruno", a 200 lb. St. Bernard puppy.

He was not vicious but was very friendly.

Every day he would join me for about half a mile until he got tired, as his owner pursued us shouting that he was harmless and for Bruno to desist.

That was Ok except that Bruno did not amble in a straight line and continually threw body blocks.

As in any contact sport, the 200 pounder usually prevails over the 160 pounder.

His most disconcerting habit was to gently grasp my wrist in his very slobbery jaws. Not painful but will definitely disrupt you arm/leg action.

I don't know if I could have out-run Bruno but I could out last him and actually began to look forward to our daily jog. Then one day, Bruno did not materialize and I passed his castle and never showed again.
